Two wins at Henley Women's Regatta
Thames had a fantastic weekend at Henley Women’s Regatta, coming away with two wins from three finals, five semi-finals and 12 crews racing side by side.
Our aspirational club eight retained the Copas Cup in incredible style, marking the third year in a row of winning with a three-length margin. It was an even sweeter victory for them rowing in the shell named after our recently passed club president, Pauline Rayner. Pauline was a tireless advocate for women’s rowing, Thames women, and Henley Women’s Regatta.
Freya Keto continued her amazing season in the double with Oxford Brookes University Boat Club’s Jenny Bates with a classy win in the W. Peer Cup for championship double sculls.
Emilia Crocker and Phoebe Campbell raced well in the final of the Redgrave Challenge Vase for championships pairs, losing to Leander Club’s ‘Project LA’ crew.
Thames also had semi-finalists in the Avril Vellacott Cup for championship coxless fours, and the Lester Trophy for aspirational coxless fours.
The women’s squad now has all eyes on Henley Royal Regatta with two eights; two fours; and a composite pair all pre-qualified; five crews at qualifiers; and a new 2024 campaign to retain the Wargrave for a third year.
