Junior update: indoor rowing world record and Hampton Head

The junior squad are proud to announce that Chloe Knight is the new world record holder on the Concept 2 ergo over 5000m for a lightweight junior woman. Chloe completed the 5000m ergo as a routine test for the GB trials process and submitted the score – 19.32.6 – to Concept 2 for verification. Concept 2 confirmed that she had beaten the previously held record by 2 seconds. Congratulations to Chloe.

After many event cancellations over the last two months the junior squad made the short trip to a windy Hampton Head on 6 February and finally had an opportunity to get some winter racing in against top national clubs.

The results were promising with a 5th place out of 21 crews for the women’s J18 4x, 7th place out of 21 crews for men’s J18 4x, 4th out of 7 crews for the women’s J18 4+ and a “time only” 2nd place for a women’s J18 2x composite with Tideway Scullers. The results set the squad up well for the next six weeks where they will be competing at GB junior trials, Hammersmith Head, Reading Head and the Schools Head of the River.
