John Fitzmaurice

We are sad to report the recent death of John Fitzmaurice, known to all as Fitz.

He was a vice-president, trustee of the Charitable Trust and former chairman. The holding of those posts was no sinecure: to each he brought his formidable financial and administrative disciplines, to say nothing as to his own generosity towards the Club’s finances. It is no exaggeration to say that he had a marked influence on the Club’s current success and general well-being.

The phrase “loyal member” is often used, but in Fitz’s case has a special and very real resonance. The Club and its members have lost a true friend.
