Thames scoops PLA safety award
Thames Rowing Club is delighted to have won the tenth Port of London Authority (PLA) annual Rowing Safety Award, along with a £1,250 cash prize.
The Code of Practice for Rowing was developed by the PLA and Thames Regional Rowing Council (TRRC) in 2006. The annual prize is given to the club that tops the TRRC’s league table of the safest clubs on the tidal Thames.
TRRC regional water safety adviser Tony Reynolds said: “Congratulations to Thames Rowing Club on a great job this past year. We want all Thames rowers following the safety guidelines, looking out for their own safety and the safety of others.”
Thames Rowing Club chairman Stephen Dooley said: “I want to thank the PLA and TRRC for supporting this initiative and to congratulate our coaches and members on making safety a priority.”
