Four pennants at Quintin Head

2017 started with a bang for Thames with a whole bagful of pennants at the Quintin Head.

Our senior men were fastest overall, beating an elite crew from University of London by five seconds. The 2nd 8 won IM2 (13th overall) with the 3rd and 4th 8s 4th and 5th in the same category. All four men’s eights finished in the top 30.

The women’s 1st 8 won WIM2 and the women’s novice 8 won WN by a massive 36 seconds.

There were also several second places, with the men’s novices, men’s masters B, men’s masters F and the women’s masters B crew all finishing second in their categories. The women’s masters were the fastest masters crew, losing the pennant on handicap to an E crew from Weybridge.

With final selection for the big head races still to come and a number of squads affected by illness in the last few weeks the results show fantastic strength and depth across the board. Next up is the Boustead Cup on 25 February!
