Fours Head and Vet Fours Head 2018

It was a good day out on the Tideway at Fours Head for Thames, with strong performances across the board.

The club picked up one win, in W4+ Club Championship. The crew of Natalie Kernan, Olivia Rogerson, Jordan Cole-Hossain, Cat Buizza and Amy Gibson was the third-fastest women’s 4+ overall, behind crews from Cambridge and Oxford. Another Thames crew was fourth in W4+ Championship.

Our 4x finished as the fastest non high-performance club 4x, the seventh-fastest quad home and 13th overall.

Our fastest 4- was racing time only, but was the ninth-quickest 4- on the course. In 4- Championship the Thames crews were seventh and 11th respectively.

In the women’s 4- the top-finishing Thames crew was second in W4- Championship, with the next fastest crew fifth. Our third W4- finished a solid seventh in the challenge category.

The men’s 4+ was the third-fastest club 4+ home, and in W 4+ Challenge the Thames crews were the fifth and eighth fastest boats out of 26 racing.

The juniors also had a good day, finishing in the middle of the pack in their competitive categories.

Veteran Fours Head

It was a day of mostly third places at Veteran Fours Head on Sunday, but Thames did secure one win as the evergreen Pauline Rayner steered her crew of Gavin Kerr, Andrew Seddon and Aimee Campbell to victory in Mixed D 4x.

The rest of the club’s entries performed strongly. The WC4+ was second in their category and the WB4+, who had to race time only, would have won the category had a substitution not rendered them ineligible.

The C4- was third in their category and 10th overall on raw times, with the B4x also third in their category and 12th overall.

The G4x and WB4x were also third in their categories, with the D4+ fourth.
